The U.S. Senate is debating the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as the next U.S. Secretary of Education. On Wednesday, Republican Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska stated that they would vote no. The two women are the first sitting Republican senators to publicly say they wouldn't back one of Trump's Cabinet nominees.

Call your senators now and urge them to stand with Sens. Collins and Murkowski and vote NO. Click here to find your senators.

Here is some sample language for your call:

I am urging you to join your courageous colleagues Senator Susan Collins and Senator Lisa Murkowski and vote NO and do not confirm Betsy DeVos as U.S. Secretary of Education.

I stand with LGBT students and cannot support a nominee who has demonstrated that she seeks to undermine the bedrock American principles of equal opportunity, nondiscrimination and public education itself. In order to ensure a strong system of public education that promotes equity and supports LGBT students, I urge you to vote no on her confirmation. Thank you.
